Särkänniemi Theme Park

Särkänniemi Theme Park located by the gorgeous Lake Näsijärvi in Tampere consists of four attractions: Amusement Park, Doghill Fairytale Farm, Näsinneula Observation Tower and Aquarium. Amusement Park and Doghill Fairytale Farm are open only seasonally, but Näsinneula Observation Tower and Aquarium are open year round. Särkänniemi Amusement Park has more than 30 rides for everyone’s taste. With Särkänniemi Pass (available during the summer season) you get unlimited access to all the attractions and rides.

Doghill Fairytale Farm

Doghill Fairytale Farm is a petting zoo in the heart of Tampere. You can meet real animals in an environment that takes you back to the old days. You can also meet the famous Doghill (Koiramäki) characters created by Finnish author Mauri Kunnas. Doghill Fairytale Farm is open during the summer season and in December with cute and atmospheric Christmas event Doghill Christmas. Doghill Fairytale Farm is part of Särkänniemi Theme Park.

Näsinneula Observation Tower

The peak of the second highest observation tower in the Nordic countries reaches 168 meters. You can see breathtaking views from the observation deck or the revolving Restaurant Näsinneula.

Särkänniemi Aquarium

Peek under the surface and get to know the wonders of the underwater world while keeping your feet dry. More than twenty aquarium pools are home to two hundred species of fish from around the world. We have both native Finnish fishes and colorful species from around the world. The Aquarium also has reptiles such as lizards, snakes, turtles and caimans. There are also amphibians such as the yellow poison frogs and axolotls to be found at the Aquarium. The swimming, crawling and jumping inhabitants of Särkänniemi Aquarium are waiting for your visit!

World’s Only Moomin Museum

The Moomin Museum is an experiential art museum for Moomin fans and art lovers of all ages. Visit us and relive the adventures of the beloved Moomin family in our permanent exhibition of Tove Jansson’s original illustrations. Canoe, Kayak and SUP Rental in Tampere

Located next to the city center, you will find our canoe rental base by the shore of lake Näsijärvi, the biggest lake around the Tampere region. You can rent a canoe, kayak or a paddle board for just a short excursion or even for a multi-day tour. For a short tour our location gives you the opportunity to either choose to see the city landscape from a canoe or take your tour surrounded by wilderness. For short rentals you can just come by, but for longer tours booking in advance is advised. Notice that we also rent fatbikes for summer.

The Viikinsaari Island will capture the imagination of the entire family with its enchanting swimming beaches, the picturesque villa and the sweet scent of nostalgia in the air. The most beautiful and fascinating summer oasis of Tampere provides an impeccable setting for a day trip with the family, a picnic with friends or even the perfect wedding ceremony. Viikinsaari is a lush and lovely summer oasis just twenty minutes away from the Laukontori harbor in the center of Tampere.

It takes only twenty minutes to reach the Viikinsaari Island from the Laukontori harbor in the center of Tampere. The ships embark from the harbor every hour on the hour and return from the island at half past the hour every hour.

Ravintola Viikinsaari is an atmospheric summer restaurant perfectly suited for staging small events and bigger functions alike. In addition, summertime visitors are serviced by a kiosk. The encompassing natural surroundings, the public sauna on Sundays, the barbeque spots and the comprehensive restaurant services combined ensure that the Viikinsaari Island is a singular destination on weekdays and holidays alike. Pikku Kakkonen Playground

Kids’ favourite playground was repaired in summer 2013. The playground is best known of Tampere playgrounds and the central theme are the characters from Pikku Kakkonen kids’ programme. There are two areas at the playground: city and forest, that are obvious through devices and structures. For adults there are exercise devices.

Tittytumpkin’s Fairytale Park and Playground

Based on poems by Kirsi Kunnas, this theme playground combines art and functionality. The playground doesn’t rely on ready devices but offers opportunities for imaginative play. Next to a reading spot there is a shadow theatre that also works as a drawing board. If rain catches you, you can escape it under a green roof. A big sand box and water point enable different exciting water and sand games!

Kiviniitty Petting Zoo

Kiviniitty Petting Zoo is located in Sastamala, western Finland. We have over 30 species, including regular farm animals and also wildlife like deer, ostriches, swans, European mouflons and many others.

In addition to animals we have other activities such as trampolines, bouncy castles, pedal cars and electric quads for small children. Some of our pedal cars are big enough for even adults to drive and join the fun. Our nature path takes you to a short trip in Finnish forest where you find small quizzes. We have a play area for the children and a magic forest with friendly trolls and elfs.

There is a summer café in the park, where you can buy coffee, pastries, ice cream and such. We also have several well equipped canopies with open fire cooking grills if you wish to have a picnic. You are welcome to bring your own food.

Welcome to spend holiday at Himos! Our weekly program offer fun activities for everybody. Try curling on a natural ice or have a dip in a freezing water during our morning sauna. For children we have children’s snowmobile school. Have you ever been in an eFatbike- Safari? That is also worth testing!

The winter weekly programs start from Christmas week and are valid until Easter. Weekly programs must be booked in advance, unless otherwise specified in the program. You can make a reservation directly from the calendar.

In addition to weekly programs, we offer equipment rental and activities on request for families and small groups.

Himos Lumila – Snow fun family area

Himos´s Snow fun family area guarantees plenty of activities to do all day long!
Approximately two hectare wide area offers 4 lifts and many sliding slopes for skiing, snowboarding, sledding and tubing. There is also a playground with swings and slides. When hunger surprises, you can relax and have a snack break comfortably in one of three lean-tos. There are also toilets with diapper changing tops for the smallest one.

At Himos, one run on the ski hill can change your day. Our ski & snowboard pros aren´t just instructors, they are your guides, helping you hone your skills while enjoying your day. Laajavuori

Laajavuori is an urban outdoor activity center that offers various sports activities as well as stunning views. On the top of Laajavuori you can admire the city and the nearby forests and ponds from a height of 227 meters. On top of the Laajavuori, there is a ski jumping stadium with five ski jump hills. One of the hills is named after the successful Jyväskylä-based hill jumping legend Matti Nykänen. The Nykänen ski jump hill is one of the best known landmarks in Jyväskylä.

You can reach the top of the hill by ski lift, on foot along a nature trail, or by biking. Laajavuori offers diverse routes for downhill biking, enduro, and cross-country cycling. In winter, you can also bike on a wide winter cycling route, or instead of a bike, you can come down the hill skiing or snowboarding. Among the 13 slopes, there are suitable options for skiers of different levels. If you prefer a flatter option instead of downhill skiing, the Laajavuori outdoor area’s trail network covers nearly 50 km of maintained tracks. On the year-round skiing route, you can move in the summer with roller skis and rollerblades.

In addition to the above, the outdoor area offers even more options, such as fitness tracks, an adventure park, disc golf, and a nearby spa where you can relax after a day of activities. No matter what time of year you visit in Laajavuori outdoor area, there are plenty of options available!

Adventure Park Laajavuori

Adventure Park Laajavuori is located only 4km away from the Jyväskylä city center! Breathtaking rope slides and climbing challenges awaits you, the adventure is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The adventure park is in the middle of Laajavuori natural site and parts of it are located in a forest, which gives a real sense of adventure!

Adventure Park Laajavuori is one of the biggest in the Nordic countries! There are over 2,5 km of ziplines and climbing obstacles in total. The courses vary from beginner courses near the ground level to challenging sport courses in the height of almost 20 meters!

Adventure Parks is also suitable for the whole family! Junior courses are designed for kids over 90 cm. For the smallest members of the family, a playground’s swings, children’s slide, balancing obstacles and other obstacles offers some fun activities!

There is also a cafeteria in the area, where you can buy snacks, ice cream and beverages. A terrace and a lean-to are also free to use.

Adventure Park Laajavuori is a part of Laajis’ year-round selection of activities. Skiing in the winter, downhill biking, adventure park and disc golf in the summer for example!

Aalto2 Museum Centre

Aalto2 is a unique museum centre where architecture, design and cultural heritage meet. Located in the heart of Jyväskylä, the centre operates in two buildings designed by Alvar Aalto. The permanent exhibitions explore Aalto’s life and work alongside the cultural heritage of Central Finland. In addition, Aalto2 features several temporary exhibitions throughout the year. The experience is completed by the carefully curated Aalto2 Shop, offering Finnish design products, and the Aalto2 Café. Aalto2 offers inspiring exhibitions and a welcoming place to pause, surrounded by Aalto’s architecture.

Several temporary exhibitions are on display at the same time, where different handicraft techniques, their masters and art craft are presented, as well as, of course, the Finnish national costume tradition. Handicraft is a broad concept that covers both soft and hard materials, traditional techniques as well as new innovations. Come and be inspired!

Get to know versatile Finnish craft and colourful national costumes in permanent exhibitions Craftstories – Tales of Finnish Skill and A Timeless Tradition – Finnish National Costume.

Travel trough 2000 years of crafts in A Joyrney in Time exhibition in the museum’s lecture hall, or try your hand at the crafts in the museum’s open workshop. In the workshop space on the second floor of the museum, children and adults can try their hand at making their own souvenirs. Or book a guided tour to the exhibitions.

The museum shop has products by Finnish crafts people for big or small needs.
