Helsinki Region
Day 1
Arrival in Helsinki and transfer to Helsinki City centre either by local train or Finnair Airport Bus. Accommodation in a centrally located hotel, which has a Green Key certificate.
It is time to explore the city independently. Helsinki Region
Day 2
After breakfast, a visit to Suomenlinna Fortress. Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Finland. Suomenlinna’s appeal lies in its history, sights and maritime environment. Together with its stakeholders, the Governing Body of Suomenlinna has created a sustainable tourism strategy that serves the dual objectives of site conservation and tourism development. Suomenlinna also has the Sustainable Travel Finland Label. You reach Suomenlinna fortress with a ferry, which leaves from the Market Square The ferry company also emphasises sustainability in its operations.

Lahti Region
Day 3
After breakfast, it is time to drive by car or take a train to Lahti, The European Green Capital 2021. Accommodation is in centrally located hotel Solo Sokos Hotel Seurahuone. Seurahuone won the title of the most responsible hotel in Europe in the international World Luxury Hotel Awards competition in 2022 and has a Green Key Certification and Sustainable Travel Finland Label. Another good option is the Green Star Hotel Lahti, which is located only 5 minutes from the train station.
After arrival it’s time to explore the European Green Capital, which provides a stunning setting in which you can enjoy nature at its freshest and purest. Head to Salpausselkä UNESCO Global Geopark (formed by the last Ice Age), independently or with guidance (guided walking or Kitetirri E-fatbike tour). You can also explore the city by Mankeli city bikes, which are available in April-November (depending on the snowless season).

Lahti Region
Day 4
You can pop by the Lahti harbour that has been completely transformed from a heavy-industry port into an oasis for Lahti’s residents and tourists alike. At the harbour area you can also explore Sibelius Hall, Kariniemi and Lanu Sculpture Park – consisting of an arboretum and massive sculptures which blend into the scenery. This is an important recreational area between central Lahti and the shore of Lake Vesijärvi.
Recommended restaurants include Restaurant Roux in a converted 19th century pharmacy, specialising in Finnish and Nordic cuisine, Taivaanranta Grill and Distillery, also with a Finnish-themed menu. Lahti is known for its pure water and grains, which are evident in local products and quality.

Jyväskylä Region
Day 5
After breakfast, catch a morning bus to Jyväskylä. Accommodation options are part of one of the centrally located eco-certified and Sustainable Travel Finland labelled hotels: Scandic Jyväskylä Station, Scandic Jyväskylä City, Solo Sokos Hotel Paviljonki or Original Sokos Hotel Alexandra.
The entire Jyväskylä Region takes part in the Sustainable Travel Finland programme which gathers under one label all the tourism operators that are truly committed to sustainable travel development.
After arrival, there is free time to explore the city and its sights by foot and to enjoy seasonal flavors at restaurants.
Jyväskylä, The Capital City of Alvar Aalto’s Architecture – The impressive portfolio of 30 locations includes, for instance, the Alvar Aalto Museum (part of the new Aalto2 museum centre). The Alvar Aalto destinations, stories, and history are open to you either on your own accord or in the company of an expert guide.
Toivola Old Courtyard offers an indulging café and restaurants, boutiques and museum buildings to explore.

Tampere Region
Day 6
Transfer by train to Tampere. The City of Tampere has made a strong commitment to implement and promote ecologically, socially, culturally and economically sustainable policies in the city. You can overnight in a Green Key certificated hotel, Solo Sokos Hotel Torni Tampere. It is located nearby the train station. After checking in at the hotel, you can make a self-guided walking tour around the city and have a look at the most important sights of Tampere. You can find printable maps with tips here.

Tampere Region
Day 7
You can choose among many sustainable travel activities in Tampere. You can visit for example Finlayson and Tampella areas that are industrial heritage sites packed with history, culture and innovation. They boast various restaurants, cafés, businesses and cultural services, like the Finlayson Church and Tallipiha Stable Yards with small handicraft shops.
Alternatively you can visit the recreational area of Pispala and Pyynikki Observation Tower. Tampere also has another tower, Näsinneula Observation Tower that is the tallest building in Finland.
Also the world’s only Moomin Museum at Tampere Hall is always worth visiting. And when you get hungry, you can eat sustainably in Tampere. Check what the restaurants can offer.
