• Tampere Cathedral

  Tampere Cathedral (originally known as St. John’s Church) was designed in the national romantic style by architect Lars Sonck, and built between 1902 and 1907.

  The Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral is famous for its frescoes, painted by the symbolist Hugo Simberg. The altar-piece, representing the future resurrection of the dead, was painted by Magnus Enckell.

• The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas

  The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas, located in the historic Finlayson factory area in Tampere, specialises in social history by recording, researching and exhibiting the history of the workforce. Our versatile exhibitions and lively event activities guarantee a continuous abundance of things to see and do at Werstas.

  Admission to Werstas is always free. Drop by or explore our exhibitions for a whole day. Rain or shine, our doors are open – Werstas is your living room in the heart of the city.

• Spy Museum

  The world’s first Spy Museum in the heart of Tampere. A unique experience for adults and families with kids.

  Espionage has influenced every essential area of society. In politics, economy, warfare as well as in competition in business and ideology, one person or a technical device has been able to alter the direction of development and the world even more than official governments.

  The first spy museum was opened in 1998 in order to commemorate these legendary characters, their tools and methods. It is fitting that it was created in a country that has been, due to its geopolitical and technological status, a busy playground for espionage.

• Tallipiha Stable Yards

  Stable Yards, old time idyll in Tampere centre

  A hundred years ago the Stable Yards were part of the Finlayson factory community that dominated the city of Tampere for half a century. The Stable Yards were the domain of the factory owner’s horses and the staff needed to care for them. The charming Russian Karelian style cottages in beautiful garden surroundings have now been restored to their 1880´s appearance and made home to a range of little gift shops, artisans’ workshops and café.

  Today, the historic Tallipiha is a free-of-charge sight with a fascinating cafe, chocolate and handicraft shops and various events. The community is also home to different seasonal events. Summer events include a traditional Finnish Midsummer celebration, market days and artisans’ work demonstrations. During the summer, a genuine old time horse cab awaits customers in the Yards. During winter, Stable Yards celebrate Shrovetide and Christmas with various events. The Stable Yards have something to offer to people of all ages.

• Finlayson Church

  The Finlayson Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church built in gothic revival style. The church was built for the use of the Finlayson factory workers in 1879.

  The Church was designed by the city architect of Tampere at the time, Frans Ludvig Calonius. The material for the church’s façade is clean red brick. It resembles an English Congregationalist church in that the preaching chair and the organ are unusually located behind the altar.

• Tallipihan Suklaapuoti Chocolate Shop

  Tallipihan Suklaapuoti is a lovely chocolate shop located in Tallipiha, Stable Yards in Tampere and in Tampere Market Hall. The place is a true chocolate lover’s heaven, offering delicious truffles, pralines, bars of chocolate, along with other sweets, liquorice, toffee and fudge to cater for all tastes. Our selection consists of a wide range of chocolates and other sweets from 40 different producers: top producers from Europe and some selected artisan producers from Finland.

  Our “crown jewel” is our chocolate counter where you can pick your own selection of chocolates – we have nearly 100 options to choose from!

  The main shop is located in historical Tallipiha, Stable Yards, which used to be a part of the Finlayson factory community in the 1880s. Today, this beautifully restored area is a vibrant shopping destination for locals and visitors.

  Our other shop is situated in Tampere Market Hall, right by the city centre. The market hall has grown to be the biggest indoor market hall in the Nordic countries with around 30 vendors.

• Museum Milavida

  Museum Milavida is a unique museum in Tampere. Its main exhibition sheds light on the life of the Nottbecks, a truly cosmopolitan family who lived in Tampere. The museum also houses a fashion or design exhibition that changes every year. One ticket grants access to both exhibitions.
