Pirkkala main library is located in the centre of the municipality. The library offers lending and information services to everyone, but in order to loan materials a library card is needed. Pirkkala main library offers customers free access to various workspaces, digital guidance, computer and internet use, and it is also possible to practice reading skills by reading to a dog.

The library services organise a wide range of events for patrons of all ages, including story hours for children and author visits tailored to more mature audiences. Occasionally, the library also hosts special one-off events.

Art is also on display at the Main Library. The visual arts exhibition space, Galleria 2, features regularly changing exhibitions and is located within the main library. It is open during the library’s customer service hours, and entry to the exhibitions is free of charge.

The main library also offers space for other art exhibitions within the library building.

Library users have access to a wireless internet connection. The library also includes a newspaper reading room and a quiet study area.

The main library in Pirkkala was designed by the Tampere-based architectural firm Helamaa & Heiskanen, with architect Matti Mastosalo leading the project. The new library premises were opened in 2010.

Please note that dogs are not permitted in the library. However, guide dogs, assistance dogs, and therapy dogs are welcome.
