Hakola Marjatilan Kekri is an experiential food tourism product.
Kekri fires blaze, candlelight illuminates the passersby and the rich flavors of the harvest smell outside and inside. The mystical autumnal twilight creates its own atmosphere.
Hämäläinen food, gratitude and old kekri traditions are the main focus. The event venue is a family farm in the middle of the Häme fields at the foot of the ridge – Hakola Marjatilan.
We raise a glass to kekri.
We start the event by telling about kekri through the arts: the harvest celebration, the old New Year, the end of the working year and the remembrance of the deceased.
At the beginning of the kekri evening, we tell the story of the food. A story based on pure local ingredients, wild food and the culinary tradition of Häme, as well as ideas about what was eaten as a kekri in a Janakkala cottage 200 years ago. The entire meal is based on old traditions. Kekri delicacies are, as in ancient times, close by: green wild herbs, berries, cabbage, cheese, lake fish, root vegetables in many forms, fresh meat, pickled vegetables, bread and beer; harvest cake and various warm drinks made from herbs
We revive old kekri traditions, for example, with kekri stories in a lampola, fortune telling from beeswax sticks, silence at a nature altar, competitions and quizzes.
Finally, we hike with candlelight to the kekri fire to listen to the program. We are part of an unbroken chain of generations.
