Karelian Winter Week – Nature, Flavours and Northern Magic for families

Discover a family-friendly winter adventure in Nurmes, North Karelia, where snowy nature, local flavours and Karelian culture come together. Stay in the atmospheric Bomba area beside Lake Pielinen and enjoy a balanced week of outdoor activities, cultural encounters and relaxing spa time.

Meet friendly alpacas, explore snow-covered forests on a guided snowshoe walk and enjoy warm drinks and snacks around a campfire. Learn about local life and taste authentic Karelian specialities prepared from regional ingredients. As evening falls, head outdoors for a peaceful walk beneath the stars and, with luck, catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

The programme also leaves time for families to slow down, enjoy the winter scenery and relax together at Bomba Spa, with its pools, saunas and outdoor jacuzzi overlooking Lake Pielinen. Optional experiences, such as wildlife watching, can be added to make the holiday even more memorable.

This winter week is designed for families who want to experience Finland beyond the usual tourist routes. It combines gentle adventure, nature, food and wellbeing at an easy pace, with activities suitable for adults and children. No previous experience of winter activities is required, and the programme may be adapted to weather and snow conditions.
