The Finlayson Area is a vibrant business and cultural hub located in the heart of Tampere, within the beautiful national landscape surrounding the Tammerkoski rapids. Here, history and modern life meet amidst red-brick factory buildings – this unique district traces its origins to the Finlayson cotton mill established in the 1820s, around which the city of Tampere was built.

Today, the Finlayson Area is known for its diverse cultural offerings and events, most of which are free of charge for visitors. The area is home to more than one hundred businesses, including shops, restaurants, cafés, a cinema and museums. Its wide range of services, rich cultural programme and distinctive atmosphere make it one of Tampere’s most unique destinations.
