Pursiala Giant’s Kettle
Pursiala Giant’s Kettle is a pothole carved into the rock by icy glacial rivers approximately 11 400 years ago. With its depth of 8 meters and width of 2-3 meters, it is currently the fourth largest pothole discovered in Finland.
Located only a short distance away from Mikkeli city center, Pursiala Giant’s Kettle is easily accessible by car. From the nearby Hiidenkatu parking lot there’s only a short 130 meter walk to the kettle. Adventurous visitors who wish to enjoy the nature of the area can also take the Kaihu Trail scenic hiking route to the kettle. Kaihu nature trail is a low difficulty hiking route with smooth and wide paths and therefore it is also suitable for families with children.
Pursiala Gian’ts Kettle is a registered Saimaa Geopark site.
