Exhibition at Suur-Savo Museum: Öres and Euros – The History of Money in Finland

Suur-Savo Museum’s new exhibition, opening in May 2026, introduces the museum’s collection of money and coins. The exhibition explores the different currencies that have been used in Finland, from the Swedish öre to the European Union’s shared euro. In addition, Öres and Euros – The History of Money in Finland examines banking and archeological findings related to money in the Southern Savonia region.

Exhibition is open at Suur-Savo Museum 9 May 2026–6 March 2027.
Museums is open May-August Tue-Sat 10 am-5 pm and September-March Wed and Sat 10 am-5 pm.

Exceptional opening hours

The museum is closed for holidays:
14 May, 19–21 Jun, 6 Dec and 24–26 Dec 2026.
On the eves of holidays, the museum will close at 4 p.m.
