Väisälänmäki – a National Landscape of Finland
Väisälänmäki in Lapinlahti is a charming village that showcases traditional Savonian lakeside and hillside settlement. It has been recognized as one of Finland’s official National Landscapes.
Artists have admired Väisälänmäki’s scenery for generations. The most famous work created here is Eero Järnefelt’s iconic painting Under the Yoke (Burning the Brushwood) (Raatajat rahanalaiset).
Discover the nature trail with campfire sites and enjoy breathtaking views from the lookout tower. In summer, hikers are welcomed by the Karjamaja Café, and during Christmas time, the Elf Trail adds a touch of seasonal magic. In snowy winters, snowshoes may come in handy when exploring the area.
