Visit websiteAR tour at Pielavesi, the birth town of Urho Kekkonen, brings the legendary Urho Kekkonen to life by using augmented reality.
Urho Kekkonen was a Finnish politician who served as the eighth and longest-serving President of the Republic of Finland from 1956 until 1982. As head of state for over 25 years, he dominated Finnish politics being a very powerful, sometimes controversial but still a respected figure. Today he remains a Finnish legend.
Join in to hear stories about the life of Kekkonen: from his childhood at Pielavesi to presidency and to the loss of his beloved wife.
AR tour starts from Lepikon Torppa, the home place of Kekkonen, and continues to the Pielavesi church village. Five framed pictures represent five different time periods or themes in the life of Kekkonen. They can be explored in order or separately. AR technology brings the pictures to life: when you point the camera of your mobile device towards the framed picture while the Salmi AR app is running, Kekkonen comes alive in the picture!
The app guides you from one story to another around Pielavesi town. The framed pictures at the Pielavesi town hall can be experienced during opening hours. The staff at Lepikon torppa will help with the use of the tour in summer time (June-August).
