Scenic cruises Mikkeli harbour- Multiple departures

The Siikasalmi scenic cruise starts from Mikkeli Harbour. The ship passes under the Savilahti highway bridges and moves along the Kenkävero shore. With the 19th-century pavilion of Lamposaari peeking out from behind the trees on the cliff, we move south of the Kirkonvarkaus Bridge to Annilanselkä, whose shores are decorated with villas and the waterfront houses of the Mikkeli Housing Fair area.

At the southern end of Annilanselä is Surmansalmi, reminiscent of 18th-century military history and the battles of Porrassalmi. When entering the strait, the ship gives a signal and moves through the narrow channel to Kyyhkylänselä, where Saimaa’s rich cottage culture landscape with its beach saunas begins to appear.

When entering the Siikasalmi channel, it can be noted that originally Mikkeli could only be reached by rowing boat through a ditch-sized channel, but due to the industrial era of the 19th century and the shipping traffic that arose from it, the strait was opened and widened several times. When passing through Siikasalmi, the ship turns around at the ”clock pier” and returns to Mikkeli.
