Kuninkuusravit the Taiken Way – A Three‑Day Experience

A unique three-day experience that immerses you in Finnish nature, traditional food, sauna culture – and one of Finland’s most significant cultural events, the Kuninkuusravit, the annual Championships of Finnish-bred horses.

This experience offers a window into the deep connection between the Finnhorse and Finnish culture. The Finnhorse is Finland’s national breed and an essential part of the nation’s historical identity – a workmate, a means of transport, and a reliable companion through both everyday life and challenging periods. From this shared history, the Kuninkuusravit emerged. First organized in 1924, the event has been the most prestigious competition in Finnish harness racing for over a century. Today, it represents top-level equestrian sport, where the horse’s endurance, tactical skill, and seamless cooperation with the driver are tested across three demanding heats.

The three-day programme begins on 1 August in the peaceful surroundings of Taiken, starting with breakfast and a guided mushroom-picking excursion. After that, guests enjoy lunch and learn to make traditional Karelian pies, followed by a creative painting session, a relaxing sauna, and evening games. The second day starts with breakfast and continues with a full day at the Kuninkuusravit in Teivo, including meals, returning to Taiken at around 22:00. The third day features breakfast, a leisurely forest walk, swimming, fishing, and a campfire with grilled sausages and traditional pot-brewed coffee. The price is €1000 per person, including all activities, with a maximum group size of 12.
