Historic Saimaa Canal Cruise from Lappeenranta

Join us on a relaxed 2-hour cruise from Lappeenranta Harbour to the Saimaa Canal and back.

This route takes you from the open lake area into the canal and offers a nice mix of lake views, along with insights into the history of the canal and how it operates today. The Saimaa Canal, originally opened in 1856, has long been an important connection between Lake Saimaa and the Baltic Sea.

During the cruise, you’ll pass through the Mälkiä lock, where the ship is lowered almost 13 metres. Watching the lock in action is often the highlight of the trip and something you don’t experience every day.

On our ship MS Saimaa Margareta, you can sit outside on deck or stay inside and enjoy the views. There is a café on board where you can buy drinks and small snacks during the journey.
