We welcome you to Hanhiniity’s Forge to experience and learn traditional Finnish craftsmanship in a genuine blacksmith’s working environment.

We organise various forging courses under the guidance of professional blacksmith and teacher Martti Malinen. We also take private students to the workshop all year round. Whether you are a complete beginner or a craftsman with previous forging experience, under the guidance of an experienced teacher you will be taught according to your own skill level.

The best antidote to our digitally numbed brains is genuine craftsmanship that results in something tangible, visible and lasting – and certainly something unforgettable!

Hanhiniity Smithy is located on an island in Lake Saimaa, a short ferry ride away, in the middle of the most beautiful Lake Finland. It is located in the courtyard of an old island farmhouse surrounded by forests and lakes. There are plenty of other services and interesting things to do, especially in the summer, even for a longer period of time. We also offer a range of accommodation options in cooperation with other operators in the area.
