THE WILD ONES

The Wild Ones is a large-scale, immersive dance production by Routa Company, premiering in Kajaani on August 20, 2026. The performance begins outdoors and continues inside the historic main building in Seminaari campus area, where audiences can move freely through three floors and experience the work in their own unique way.

Blending movement, sound, and ritual, The Wild Ones explores inner fears, conflicts, and the darker sides of the self in a gentle and playful manner, culminating in a shared celebratory finale.

The production is exceptional in scale involving over 100 performers, including dancers, a choir, and a large professional team, bringing together all of Kajaani’s dance community for the first time.

The production is directed by Routa Company’s artistic director and choreographer Sari Palmgren. Lighting design is by Topias Toppinen. The soundscape is created by Tuomas Norvio and Kimmo Pohjonen, whose powerful, layered, and atmospheric music deepens the work’s wild and ritualistic mood. The visual design is by the Roskakatos collective: scenographers Jaana Kurttila and Mirkka Nyrhinen, who create uncompromising art through the power of recycling.
