Pyynikki Observation Tower and Café

Located on the world’s largest gravel ridge, the 26-meter-tall red granite tower was opened in 1929 on the 150th anniversary of Tampere City. Magnificent views over Tampere and its surroundings open from the top of the tower and it continues to be one of the most popular local sights.

On the ground level there is a famous cafeteria where they make unique doughnuts or ‘munkki’ (in Finnish), which are known all over Finland and many say they are the best in the country.

The tower and the café are open every day of the year from 9 am ’til 8 pm (9 pm in the summertime). Only on Midsummer Eve and on Christmas Eve they close earlier, at 4 pm. The admission up to the tower is merely 2 € for adults and 1 € for children between 4 and 15 years.
