Accessible Swimming Area in Kajaani

Completed in the summer of 2025, this accessible swimming area is located at Kesäniemi Beach, and it is designed specifically for physically and visually impaired. However, the swimming area is open to anyone who wants to enjoy the water safely and comfortably.

The swimming area has a gentle swimming ramp made of concrete elements, three different levels for swimming, and sturdy railings on both sides of the ramp. In addition, there is a two-part changing room on the beach that can accommodate a wheelchair. The swimming area is accessible from the disabled parking area, and tactile raised maps with Braille markings serve as signs to make navigation easier.

Kesäniemi Beach is located just 2 km from the center of Kajaani, surrounded by beautiful river views.
