National Parks Lakeland Finland

National Parks of Jyväskylä Region

In the Jyväskylä Region, Finnish nature can be experienced in miniature. The trails in the region’s four national parks transport the visitors up ridges of whispering pines, to the shores of glittering blue lakes, to expanses of bogland, fascinating boulder fields, wilderness forests and foaming rapids. In the national parks, we move around with respect for nature: wildlife is observed from a distance and with as little noise as possible, whilst and ensuring that no rubbish is left behind.

Leivonmäki National Park

The trails in Leivonmäki National Park are suitable for nature lovers of all ages and abilities. Visitors with disabilities and children in prams have also been taken into account, since one of the park’s trails and rest stops is barrierobstacle-free. The park’s varied landscape can be enjoyed on foot or by riding along one of the mountain bike trails. The park is divided in two by the ruggedly beautiful Rutajärvi river, which can best be explored in on a canoe. In winter, cross-country skiing on a hiking trail amidst a national park blanketed in snow is a real experience.
