Ilkonsaari Island Cruises from Lappeenranta

Join us on a relaxed cruise from Lappeenranta Harbour to Ilkonsaari Island and back.

Ilkonsaari is a 1.5 km long island that offers a typical Saimaa landscape with a mix of sandy and rocky shores, as well as different types of forest. It’s a peaceful place to explore and enjoy nature at your own pace.

A special feature of the island is its five small Orthodox chapels (tsasounas), which reflect the history of Orthodox Christianity spreading from Mount Athos through Russia to Finland and the northern region of Petsamo.

You will have approximately 1.5 hours of free time on the island. You can walk along the marked paths, visit the chapels or simply enjoy the surroundings. The island can be explored independently or with a guide.

On the return journey, you can pre-order a salmon soup meal (also available lactose-free and gluten-free). There is also a café on board where you can buy drinks and small snacks during the cruise.
